Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers affecting women. Breast cancer has struck many of the rich & famous. Let's take a look at some famous personalities who have successfully overcome the battle with breast cancer, and who continue to inspire both men & women around the world.

Angelina Jolie

Counted among the most beautiful and popular actresses in Hollywood, Angelina Jolie has everything running for her. What many people did not know until May 14, 2013 was that she has seen the struggle with breast cancer through her mother, who lost the battle to the disease. Boldly enough, she opted for a double mastectomy as a precaution against breast and ovarian cancer. She took this decision when she found out that her risk of getting breast cancer was as high as over 80%.

Her courageous decision has sent across an important message - health is the highest priority regardless of the glamorous world and that breast cancer and its risk factor can be detected early & treated accordingly.

Mumtaz

Back in India, Bollywood diva of yester years, Mumtaz, was diagnosed with a malignant lump in her breast in 2000, which turned out to be cancerous. Today, she openly shares her story and gives credit to the support she received from her family coupled with her own determination to survive the cancer. In an interview, she said,"I don't give up easily. Even death will have to fight me."

Olivia Newton John

Most fondly remembered for her role in the movie Grease, singer and Hollywood star, Olivia, was detected with breast cancer in 1992. She headed to Australia post surgery and chemotherapy, during which she continued with what she loved and even recorded a song album! She talks about her experiences as a breast cancer survivor with other women, stressing on the importance of regular screening and early detection.

Nancy Reagan

The former First Lady of the White House, Nancy Reagan, was diagnosed with breast cancer in 1987 while her husband was still the President of the United States. She made a full recovery post breast cancer surgery, and shared her story with the media to promote regular breast cancer screening.

Kylie Minogue

"Can't get you out of my head" popular Australian singer, Kylie Minogue, found a lump in her breast in 2005. She underwent chemotherapy and surgery before making full recovery. She shared her personal medical journey with the Pink Ribbon Foundation, where she said that,"One important thing to know is you're still the same person during it. I'm more eager than ever to do what I did. I want to do everything."

Sheryl Crow

Known for her country music, Sheryl Crow is a breast cancer survivor who underwent radiation therapy and minimally invasive surgery back in 2006. Today, she keeps the cancer from coming back by following a healthy diet and lifestyle.
